Ahh...Christmas memories

Alright, I have to be honest with you. Yesterday’s post about “O Holy Night” was not actually by me. But for as bad as it was, it almost has 200,000 views which isn't too shabby! I found it on youtube and thought it would be a fun hello for Dec. 1st to kick off the Christmas season!

Hey, let me ask you this. Since Christmas is what…23 days away, what are some of your favorite memories or traditions that you and your family used to do? Do you have any good stories worth sharing?

Well for me I remember we had a 50’ foot Christmas tree in our living room one year. (Well it seemed like 50’ when I was little) Anyway I remember we had it set up and all I could think about was finding this “Big Bird Sesame Street Jacket” underneath of it for Christmas!!! This jacket was the hottest item in my opinion that year! (And no it wasn’t my senior year) Anyway on Christmas day as we were opening presents there was a box sitting on the floor that had my name on it. It was all wrapped up and was exactly the right size to possibly be hiding this 1 in a million jacket! When my mom handed it to me I tore it open, hoping this was the jacket that was going to make me the coolest kid at my school! I opened it up and sure enough it was a Sesame Street jacket!!! However…as I turned it over it was...Oscar the Grouch! WHAT!!! Now I was going to be known as “The Grouch” of the school??? I wish I could say that I eventually came to my senses and realized that it cost my parents a lot of money and they tried their best…buttttttt…yeeaahhh……not so much.

Right behind me was a fireplace that my dad had started earlier to keep us warm on that early morning. (Yeah, you’re already ahead of me) Well as soon as mom and dad left the room I opened the door and threw it in and closed the door. My mom came into the room and saw the fire blazing and asked, “Where’s your jacket?” Let me just stop things there. Needless to say…funnier now!

Anyway if you get a chance,
send me good Christmas story that you have!

Novembeard's 11-19-09

First of all let me say, “I AM SHOCKED!!!” I thought for sure I would at least have 1 comment from yesterday’s blog about the tree. Seriously, does everyone put up a Christmas tree the week before Thanksgiving??? It’s funny because I remember when I was younger we put it up like the week before Christmas and Trevor (my brother) and I said it had to be a live tree!!! It just wasn’t Christmas with a “fake” tree. Funny how things change huh.

Alright, enough about yesterday! As promised here is an update on the beards around the office. Everyone keeps asking me, "What does Holly say about your beard?" Well…when I first started it she was kind of dreading the whole process, but now that it’s filling in she’s getting used to it and doesn’t mind it as much. This leads me to the second question that I get which is, “What do you think about it.” My answer: “It’s growing on me!” I don’t know…I guess I’m looking forward to getting it off of my face for the most part, but there is a small part of me that will miss it. Kind of weird for someone who’s not a big facial hair guy. Anyway, here are the pictures of the “Novembeards!”

Hey if you are doing this or know someone that is, tell me about it!

What do you think?

I'm not sure where you stand on this, but I came home last night and saw something that caught my attention. Now before I go on, I need to warn you! What I am about to describe may not be for everyone. In fact this may make some of you reading this feel a little uneasy or upset, while some of you may run home to make some hot chocolate, start a fire and watch Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Here's how it went down:

I got home last night and saw something that wasn't there the day before. In fact when I saw it, (if I'm being honest) it kind of drew me in. It was as if I were a moth to a flame. I walked in our front door and immediately my shadow was cast on the door behind me. This 7 1/2 foot object was taking up a large portion of my living room, but for some strange reason I was okay with it. When I was younger it was typical to see a live one of these in our house. Yes for some it's a little premature but it is...our Christmas Tree!

I may be setting myself up, but let me know what you think:

In your opinion when is the best time to set up a Christmas tree?
